Skyllermarks has a long history of design, product development and production. At the start, our focus was manufacturing of presses that were used as production equipment. Now, we develop, produce and market products for better electrical systems.
Double Charging
Unfortunately, many have quite bad electrical systems in their boats. Despite fine generaters, they do not get the amount of power they had hoped. To help these boat owners get more out of their electrical systems, we have developed the Skyllermarks system. It's a series of electric connection products which give most systems double charging capacity or more.
Trails and Success
At Skyllermarks, we don't take anything for granted. We test our products (and our competitor's products) thuroughly in order to learn as much as possible. We use what we learn to improve our products and develop new ones. We also share the knowledge in the form of lectures and articles. Everything so that boat owners will be able to get as good electrical system as possible.
Transfer of Knowledge
Boating is a great school if you want to design products for a home in the country. What works in the boat is easy to get to work on land. The craft is capable, for example, its electricity itself. It has been done through, inter alia, wind generators for a long time. Small wind turbines have thus been a long time but now it's time for an industrial focus on a few models that can attract many millions of people worldwide. This is for people themselves to be able to make money on an almost-working production.
Another major advantage is that the electricity helps to slow down global warming. There are other benefits also to the availability of electricity is increasing and that the network will not be as charged when power is supplied to the network's external parts. These are benefits that are interested governments.
Skyllermarks has come a long way to work with small wind turbines and see that it will easily be able to sell large amounts of wind turbines, with a good margin to allow for a rapid expansion of the business. Skyllermarks have investigated the market and competitors, long time and it is now the company's belief that it may be needed 200 million small wind turbines to satisfy market needs.
Location of production
The next step is to build a first plant for an annual production of 100 000 wind turbines (a shift) with a sales value of just under 1.5 billion. The intention is to place it in Mejillones in northern Chile. After the establishment makes it quite easy to build more plants for local production in other countries.
Establishment of Latin America is appropriate because there is substantially more interest in making money on the production of electricity itself in there, than in developed countries where the cost of household electricity is a much smaller share of household income. Governments in Latin America is also more interested because they often have a deficit of electrical power. Moreover, Chile has a particular organization, Corfos, to support projects like this and they have good resources. Finally, we have found a small town, Mejillones, with very specific conditions that also has a progressive direction with good contacts in Sweden. New opportunities
During the sale process of wind turbines, the company has drawn attention to other interesting possibilities. The best of these opportunities is that they do not require such heavy investments as above, but quickly leads to profits in the business. I am talking about taking care of a part of all the opportunities that the company received during his visit to Latin America. The company's expertise and contact has been made aware and they want to have a technical consultancy concerning issues such as access to energy, water, etc. Thus, the typical boat market issues resolved in the self-supporting system that is a family boat. However, it will be of course the larger systems in the country.
An example:
In a family boat drag desalination machines about six kilowatt hours (kWh) per thousand liters of desalinated water, while the larger land holdings are down to about three thousand kWh per liter which can provide cheaper water to the consumer than we have in many places in Sweden. Desalination by osmosis has been used in a number of decades in the family craft and technique is the same in large plants on land, reverse osmosis through semipermeable membrane.
Another way to desalinate water at a low price is to use waste heat from the condensing power plants. In addition, it can be in hot sunny countries operate condensing power plants with steam from the solar collectors, profitable. Waste heat that you get the electricity in power plants can be used for desalination by distillation (water power). In Sweden, we use mainly CHP plants where waste heat from electricity used for heating while the rest of the world usually only cools off the heat in cooling towers or water (condensation plants).
